A Maize Milling Social Enterprise to Launch in Rwanda
In 2020, AGrowth, a maize milling social enterprise in Rwanda, was established with a goal of providing the Rwandan people with easier access to safe food. The main product of AGrowth will be maize flour, which is the essential ingredient of a local staple food called Ugali. It will officially launch the business in the 2nd quarter of 2022, and the production volume will be reached out up to 3000 tonnes per year.
The entire production line, from cleaning to processing and packing, was completed last month. In particular, the milling machine has an outstanding performance to grind maize-endosperm down to 0.018 mm. A testing operation is being implemented before the official launch. As a result of this test, the upper 1st grade has given to the final product in terms of both hygiene and quality.
AGrowth will offer our high-quality maize flour at approximately 10-20% lower than the market price. Also, smaller packages will be provided. This approach would strengthen the accessibility to safe food, especially for people with less purchasing power.
